Company History
ESS is a division of K-9 Groom-N,Inc. which is ran by Paul W. Abernathy, Certified VA Master Electrician and Class B Electrical Contractor. Mr. Abernathy is a graduate of Charlottesville/Albemarle Technical Education Center in 1988 and was voted as the # 1 student in the schools history by the faculty and his peers and the highest grade average of 105% (4.0+ GPA) over 2 years of training. Since 1988 Mr. Abernathy has been licensed as an electrician and was Virginia's youngest licensed electrician at the time, to date he 20 years experience in Residential and Commercial Electrical Construction, the company name is ESS-Electrical Service Specialists and is the electrical branch of the larger K-9 Groom-N,Inc., corporation located in Harrisonburg,VA.
He is also a nationally known National Electrical Educator , NEC® Consultant, 2007 TOP GUN WINNER at the Mike Holt Enterprises, Inc. Instructor Education Conference as well as the national electrical educator for The National Association of Certified Home Inspectors. Mr. Abernathy is also ICC & IAEI Certified Residential Electrical Inspector, Commercial Electrical Inspector, Electrical Plans Examiner and so on. He travels around the US and Canada giving electrical training, seminars and guest speaking on many electrical topics from electrical theory to national electrical code and defects.
Mr. Abernathy is also the NEC® Consultant and Educational Provider to the Eaton® ECCN Program, this program certifies electrical contractors all over the united stated to meet the highest standard in the electrical service division industry. This program is funded and provided by the largest electrical products manufacturer in the world known as Eaton®, the makers of the Cutler-Hammer Product Line. Mr. Abernathy travels all over the USA doing educational seminars for this program.
Mr. Abernathy was also the FIRST electrical educator to be approved in Virginia for the new CE requirements established in 2007 for 3 hours of education on the changes to the National Electrical Code®.
Mr. Abernathy is also the author of the book "How to perform electrical inspections" that was published in 2009 and is being sold to home inspectors nationwide. We is also a renown electrical code columnist and founder of the www.theelectricalguru.com website and weekly radio show on the National Electrical Code.®
Mr. Abernathy has 20 years of experience in the electrical field and in electrical education and training. The seminars provided by ESS will bring a clear understanding to the complex NEC CODE® and other aspects of the electrical field for everyone to enjoy.
